The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences has 14 interrelated majors and 25 minors to prepare students for rewarding professional careers developing sustainable solutions for food, family and environmental issues. Our majors are perfect for students passionate about innovative science, community development and global impact. In addition to finding employment in their respective fields, many of the programs we offer also prepare students for advancement into graduate, medical, law, dental, veterinary and other professional schools.

Majors

Agricultural Business  

Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness's close proximity to some of the largest employers in the nation, such as Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods, and J.B. Hunt, allows for unique internship and networking opportunities for students looking to pursue careers in finance, marketing, sales, accounting and more.

Agricultural Education, Communication & Technology (AECT)

Are you interested in areas like teaching, journalism, public relations, or systems technology? Our AECT major has four diverse concentrations to choose from to match your interests.

Animal Science

Animal Science is the perfect major for anyone interested in animals, biology, veterinary science, or advancement into graduate or other pre-professional programs. Animal Science concentrations allow students to customize their program based on the field they are interested in pursuing for their career. 

Apparel Merchandising & Product Development (AMPD)

Our AMPD program qualifies students for many career options in the fashion industry. Graduates pursue careers as designers, buyers, product developers and more. Many students take advantage of the international and domestic study tours for AMPD majors. 

Birth Through Kindergarten (BRKD)

Are you interested in a career working with children? In addition to being prepared for careers at child centers, our BRKD majors earn an Arkansas State license to teach Birth-Kindergarten/Special Education classrooms. 

Crop Science

Our Crop Science program prepares students for employment in wide range of disciplines. If you've got an interest in chemistry, research, genetics, row crops, agronomy, pest management, production, sales and more, this is the major for you. 

Environmental, Soil & Water Science (ESWS)

Are you interested in sustainability and the environment? Our ESWS majors study many aspects of natural resources and human impact. Graduates go on to work in environmental research, state and local agencies, consulting and more.

Food, Nutrition and Health (FNAH)

Are you interested on the impact of food and nutrition on overall health? FNAH was designed for students interested in careers in public health and wellness with desired career path alternatives to becoming a registered dietitian.

Food Science

Our Food Science program has three concentrations to prepare you for a career in the vast food industry, or advancement to medical, dental or pharmacy school. Food Science graduates pursue careers in food safety, production, research and development, sustainability and more!

Horticulture, Landscape & Turf Sciences (HLTS)

Our HLTS graduates pursue a variety of careers in this diverse and vast industry. HLTS majors have flexibility to customize their degree program to prepare them for the science, art, economic and communication aspects of the horticulture industry. 

Hospitality Management

Hospitality Management was designed to create well-rounded graduates ready to combine people skills with business and creativity. This program prepares graduates for careers in lodging, entertainment and event management industries. 

Human Development & Family Sciences (HDFS)

Do you like working with people? Our HDFS program prepares students for careers working with people of all ages, from infants to seniors. Graduates often pursue careers in public service fields, like counseling, hospice care, community education, child welfare and more. 

Human Nutrition & Dietetics (HNAD)

Give back to your community's health by becoming a registered dietitian. HNAD is accredited by the Accreditation for Education and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Once students pass, they can use their RD title to pursue careers in sports nutrition, corporate wellness, private practice and more. 

Poultry Science

The Poultry Science industry is vast in Arkansas and graduates of this program are prepared for careers in science, marketing, and business. If you're interested in biology, genetics, veterinary medicine, sales, or advancement into medical, dental, pharmacy or other professional school, consider a degree in Poultry Science.
