The College has eight academics departments and the School of Human Environmental Sciences, all of which conduct specific, impactful research to improve the lives of Arkansans and promote viable food and agricultural systems, sustainable environments, healthy families and vibrant communities.
Agricultural Education, Communications and Technology
Focus area: on how people learn, apply and create new information in the sciences
and technologies of agriculture. This includes inquiry in how to improve teaching
and learning within an agricultural context.
Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness
Focus areas: Feasibility of biodiesel, Commodity Marketing & Risk Management, Marketing,
Trade and Farm Policies, Public Policy, Public and Agricultural , Natural Resource
Economics Finance, Food Safety and Value-Added Processing, Food and Health Policy
Animal Science
Conducts a comprehensive research program serving the needs of the people of the State
of Arkansas and the nation. Principal fields include Animal Nutrition, Animal Physiology,
Genetics, Parasitology and Meat Science
Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences
Focus areas: plant breeding and genetics, weed science, crop physiology, soils, and
environmental science
Entomology and Plant Pathology
Focus areas: vegetable entomology, forest entomology, red oak borer, fruit & rice
entomology, insect genetics, pecan nut casebearer monitoring program
Focus areas: fundamental studies of host-parasite physiology to more applied studies of disease control in rice, soybean, cotton, wheat, sorghum, turf, fruits and vegetables
Food Science
Focus areas: carbohydrate, enology and viticulture, food processing, food microbiology
and safety, lipid chemistry and health, pickle, protein chemistry, rheology and sensory,
rice
Horticulture
Focus areas: Buddleja breeding, spinach breeding, greenhouse nursery growing substrates,
landscape plant evaluations, nutraceuticals, turfgrass research
Poultry Science
Focus area: poultry diseases, nutrition, virology, poultry production, immunology,
genetics, parasitology, reproductive physiology, neurobiology/physiology, microbiology
and food safety and enhancement of breeder/broiler flocks
