Why did you choose your major?

I chose to major in Animal Science because of my goal to become a veterinarian. Getting a degree in Animal Science is a huge step towards my goal and also gives me a chance to learn more about the different areas and occupations involved in animal agriculture. I am also working toward a minor in Ag Business.

What are you hoping to do with it?

After graduating, I hope to attend veterinary school and become a veterinarian.

How do you stay involved with your department?

There are so many different ways to be able to stay involved. One of the main ways I stay involved is by going to events that the Animal Science department hosts throughout the year. I also became a member of the Pre-Vet club my freshman year and currently serve as treasurer!

What is your favorite class and/or professor?

My favorite class that I have taken so far was Nutrition with Dr. Maxwell. He genuinely wants all of his students to do well and succeed in this course. I also feel like I learned a lot of information in his class that better prepared me for other courses that I am going to take!

How are you an engaged U of A student outside of the classroom?

I try to stay involved with different clubs and organizations that are offered on campus. Currently, I am the treasurer for the Pre-Vet club and am a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Both of these have given me the opportunity to be more involved and volunteer not only on campus but out in our community as well.

What is your favorite thing about Bumpers College?

My favorite thing about Bumpers College is definitely the people and how much it feels like a family. Everyone, especially the professors, wants to see you succeed both in and out of the classroom. One of the main reasons I chose to attend the University of Arkansas was because of how much the Bumpers College immediately felt like home. When I toured the college, everyone was so helpful and made transitioning from an out-of-state high school such an easy and welcoming experience.

Why did you want to be an ambassador?

I wanted to be an ambassador so I could reach out to prospective students about all of the amazing opportunities Bumpers College and the Animal Science department have to offer. I also wanted to be able to help out-of-state students feel welcomed to the Bumpers College. Coming from an out-of-state high school can be overwhelming and stressful, so I would love to be able to help and answer any questions they may have!

What is your advice for an incoming freshman?

My advice would be to make sure you get involved as much as you can on campus! Getting involved on campus is a perfect way to meet new people and find great opportunities. There are so many different clubs and organizations on campus that you can be a part of!
