Why did you choose your major?

My reason for choosing to pursue a Poultry Science degree came from an ag advisor who encouraged me to do it. I had no idea what to do with my life and I’m so glad I chose Poultry Science at U of A.

What are you hoping to do with it?

I am hoping to get into veterinary school in the fall of 21’, to become a poultry vet within the industry. Since NWA the surrounding areas are very big in poultry, I would love to stay around here after graduation.

How do you stay involved with your department?

Within the department, it is a relatively small group of people in the major. Most people that you meet in your poultry science classes will be with you through to graduation, so make a bunch of friends! All of the faculty members are very nice and will help you with anything you need, just talk to them.

What is your favorite class and/or professor?

My favorite class and professor was Anatomy with Dr. Clark. He is one of the funniest teachers I have ever had. Although the class is hard, he made it an enjoyable experience and I wish I could take it again!

How are you an engaged U of A student outside of the classroom?

At U of A, I am involved in several different clubs. The Poultry Science Club and the Cattleman’s Association are my two favorites. I also work at the Poultry Health Lab to help cover some costs.

What is your favorite thing about Bumpers College?

There is a certain feeling that comes being within the Agriculture field. For me, it feels like a hominess feeling. No matter how far away you are from your actual family, your Bumpers family will be with you and support you.

Why did you want to be an ambassador?

I wanted to become an ambassador to become a leader within Bumpers. To be able to inspire the underclassman and recruit potential students is one of the greatest legacies I can leave as an agriculturalist.

What is your advice for an incoming freshman?

As a transfer student, I never got this opportunity so I would encourage each one of you to make friends. Some of these people could be your life-long colleagues or great friends. Break your shell right away, as almost everyone is just like you!
