Arkansas Lighthouse Summer Enrichment Academy
Arkansas Lighthouse Summer Enrichment Academy (ALSEA) is a 3-day, 3-night immersion experience during the month of June for cohorts of 7th
and 8th graders through Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools. Students are recruited
from club-sponsored activities (JR MANRRS, STEM Fair, parent-teacher conferences and
open houses).
The 3-day (3-night) ALSEA includes:

- Ice Cream social & welcome
- On-campus residential housing
- Tour campus & Bumpers College facilities & spaces with hands-on workshops emphasizing various agricultural skills
- Visit laboratories on rice, soil, poultry, plants, etc.; students introduced to experimental materials/methods for an experience of fun & excitement with experimental science
- Meet Bumpers College faculty & UA MANRRS students who serve as mentors for hands-on experiments in campus labs
- Tour industry partners such as Tyson Foods Inc.
- Tour Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, a public non-profit charitable organization including a museum, art collection, five miles of sculpture & walking trails (in a 120-acre park); includes year-round programming for all ages (lectures, performances, classes, continuing education for K-12 students); learn & engage in the arts & nature/conservation
- Present and award ALSEA participants with a science white lab coat with embroidered name, official membership in AR JR MANRRS, begin journey toward AGRI-STEM careers

ALSEA aims to empower underrepresented students to interact with AGRI-STEM labs and discoveries,
modeling what they CAN BE as scholars and scientists, and providing resources for
them to acknowledge:
