Q & A with Elizabeth Walker:
Why chemical engineering?
I was a summer intern at a paper mill and was fascinated by the process of turning trees into paper.
What do you enjoy most about your job/career?
My career as a senior process engineer was exciting, but being on the farm with my husband and children is even better!
Something others may be surprised to learn about your field?
Farmers are always “on call.”
If not a Bumpers College graduate, which of our majors would you have chosen?
Animal science. Our state needs more large animal vets. My dad majored in animal science and graduated from the college in 1979.
Why do you serve Bumpers College through the DPC?
Agriculture is important to my family, our community, our state and our world. Being connected to Bumpers College connects me to the future of agriculture.
Something you and the DPC have accomplished you are proud of?
Our emphasis on student internship opportunities, and collaboration with high schools and community colleges across the state.
Favorite quotes?
Matthew 7:12, the Golden Rule, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”
If not in your current field, what might you be doing?
Education – I love learning!
Hobbies?
Doing anything outdoors and exploring the world with family and friends.
