Summer field days are continuing with a series of events to address producers’ concerns.
- Rohwer Research Station to host bio-fuel crops field day, July 30
The potential for producing “energy crops” in southeast Arkansas will be considered at a field day on “Alternative Crops for Bio-Fuel Production” at the Rohwer Research Station.
- NERREC field day to focus on resistant pigweed, insects and economics, Aug. 5
Farmers' struggles to stay ahead of resistant weeds and insect pests will be a theme at the Northeast Research and Extension Center field day.
- Resistant weeds research among RREC field day topics, Aug. 12
Herbicide resistance in rice and soybeans--a growing problem for Arkansas farmers--will be one of the topics at the annual Rice Research and Extension Center field day.
- Pine Tree Station field day to focus on rice sustainability, Aug. 20
Jennifer James, a Jackson County rice producer and chairman of the new USA Rice Federation Sustainability Task Force, will speak at a crops field day at the Pine Tree Research Station.

Paul Young III, a son of the late architect Paul Young Jr., honored family friend Don Tyson with the gift of a Razorback statue located in front of the John W. Tyson Poultry Science Building.
- Animal Science assists with Reciprocal Meat Conference
The animal science department helped organize and conduct the 62nd Reciprocal Meat Conference (RMC) June 21-24, at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers.
- Horticulture intern designs ‘campus kitchen garden’
A “campus kitchen garden” has sprouted in a formerly grass island bordered by Maple Street and the Rosen Center sidewalk and parking lot thanks to the vision and work of horticulture student Shana Ricks.
- Division and college host 4-H O-Rama
Division of Agriculture and Bumpers College faculty, staff and students helped host more than 400 junior and senior high school students from across the state for the annual 4-H O-Rama July 22-24.
- Poultry Science hosts youth conference
Twenty-six high school students attended the thirteenth annual Poultry Science Youth Conference.
- Plant Pathology sponsors research interns
Five undergraduate students are working as summer interns on research projects in the Department of Plant Pathology as Adair Scholars and another has an undergraduate research fellowship from the American Society of Plant Biologists.
- Entomology undergraduate interns conduct research
The entomology department is hosting two undergraduate interns from Brigham Young University in Idaho this spring and summer.
- Graduate students offer diagnostic services at Farmers Market
Entomology and plant pathology graduate students are staffing diagnostic booths on alternating Saturdays from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Fayetteville Farmers Market.
