Bumpers College enrollment increased for the 12th straight year to a new record total of 1,680 students, an increase of 3.7 percent over fall 2007.

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness has received a U.S. Department of Education grant to lead a new transatlantic master of science degree program named the Atlantis Program.

Andrew Proctor, Food Science, is a project leader for a consortium of U.S. and European universities that provides opportunities for seniors and graduate students.
- New issue of ‘Discovery’ student journal online
Copies of Volume 9 of “Discovery, The Student Journal of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences,” are available in departmental offices and on the Bumpers College Web site.

Sun-Ok Lee has joined the Division of Agriculture and Bumpers College faculty as an assistant professor of food science.

An article by Andrew Sharpley, crop, soil and environmental sciences, and 22 colleagues in the Ecological Society of America, was published in the Policy Forum section of the Oct. 3 issue of the journal “Science.”

The 2008 recipient of the Department of Entomology's Distinguished Alumnus Award is Ronald B. Davey.

A love of learning drew Christina Miller into academia and, as the new assistant to Vice President for Agriculture Milo Shult, she continues the work she loves.

A total of 114 students from seven high schools participated in a Science Day Sept. 23 sponsored by Bumpers College in cooperation with the Northwest Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative in Farmington.

Students from Leverett Elementary School in Fayetteville visited the Arkansas Agricultural Research and Extension Center as the kick-off to their participation in the Apples in the Classroom healthy eating program.

The Division of Agriculture's department of plant pathology has expanded its disease screening research program to include a site at the Newport Research Station in Jackson County.

The UA Weed Team sponsored by the Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences won yet another championship at the Southern Regional Weed Science Contest.

A team of four food science Ph.D. students won second place and a $5,000 prize in the national Danisco Knowledge Award Competition.
