CSES to celebrate centennial
The Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences Centennial Celebration will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Clarion Inn beginning at 6 p.m. The evening will combine food, fun, history and socializing.
Courses in agronomy were among the first offered at the Arkansas Industrial University. In 1886, George D. Purington was head of the departments of agronomy and horticulture, well before the College of Agriculture was established in 1905.
