Agricultural Experiment Station, University
of Arkansas Division of Agriculture A
newsletter for faculty, staff and students September-October 2004 Vol. 30, No. 5 Give logo credit where credit is due When designing posters and other printed material about research and extension projects, faculty and graduate students are encouraged to consider the old adage, “Give credit where credit is due.” The more current, “Who’s your daddy?” also applies. Proper use of the Division of Agriculture logo on research and extension posters and printed material is important to promote continued public and legislative support for research and extension faculty, staff, research assistants, facilities and programs. The Division of Agriculture is often not identified on research posters as the sponsoring organization for Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AAES) and Cooperative Extension Service (CES) projects. Graduate students may be unaware that research projects are supported by the U of A System’s statewide Division of Agriculture — not UA-Fayetteville. The confusion is understandable, since graduate students will receive their degrees from UA-Fayetteville, but their research is generally supported by the Division through it’s two components — the AAES and CES. The Division pays salaries for faculty and research assistants and provides for most research facilities and material. The Division also administers most project grants. Faculty members are encouraged to inform graduate students that the Division of Agriculture logo should be prominently displayed on posters and other printed material about their research if it is conducted as part of an AAES or CES project. Additional logos may also be used to identify other agencies that also provide support for a project. Electronic files of Division of Agriculture and Bumpers College logos for use on posters and other material are available online at: http://www.uark.edu/depts/agripub/logo.html
