AFRC research faculty ranks high in publications

The faculty of the Division of Agriculture’s Arkansas Forest Resources Center at UA-Monticello ranked in the top 10 out of 53 North American forestry programs in two categories for publications in forestry professional journals.

The rankings were published in a Journal of Forestry (V. 104, No. 5) article, “Citations, Publications, and Perceptions-Based Rankings of the Research Impact of North American Forestry Programs,” by David N. Laband and Daowei Zhang.

The UAM program was No. 9 based on publications per research faculty member and No. 7 based on pages per research faculty member.

Among the 16 forestry programs in southern states, UAM ranked fifth in publications per faculty member and eighth in citations per faculty member.

Dr. Richard Kluender, director of the Arkansas Forest Resources Center and dean of the School of Forest Resources, said, “our faculty are committed to providing a quality research, extension and teaching program for the people of the state of Arkansas.  Our Center has grown rapidly and our cooperators statewide help us in this total mission.  We are extremely gratified at the national recognition this research brings to our program.”
