Frances Story retires as Assistant to Vice President
Frances Story recently retired as Assistant to Vice President for Agriculture Milo Shult. The position is being filled by Jennifer Vickery, who joined the CES as a publications specialist in 1997 and was promoted to assistant director of communications in January 2004. Ms. Story began her career with the Division of Agriculture as clerk-stenographer for the Miller County Extension Service in Texarkana. She was promoted four years later to the position of extension secretary and the successive title changes of office manager and administrative office supervisor. In 1991, Ms. Story moved to central Arkansas and worked as an accounting technician in the CES headquarters for a year. After moving to Little Rock, she attended classes at UALR where she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. degree in English. She became administrative secretary to the vice president for agriculture in 1992 and was promoted to assistant to the vice president for agriculture in 1997. “I feel privileged to have been able to see first hand how the cumulative work of the Division, both research and extension, comes together to improve people's lives,” Ms. Story said. “I feel very fortunate and proud to have been associated with the U of A Division of Agriculture for the past 25 years, and value deeply the relationships made through the years. The Division and my friends here will forever own a large chunk of my heart.” After retirement Ms. Story will move to Middletown, Del., and “make some memories with my 5 and 6 year old grandchildren.” She said she will return to Arkansas often to visit friends and family in the Marvell area, where her family still owns the farm where she grew up.Top |
