Equine, Wildlife minors proposed

The Bumpers College curriculum subcommittee of the Faculty Council has proposed new minors in Equine Science and Wildlife Habitat for action in the fall by the Faculty Council.

The new Equine Science minor would be anchored by courses developed by Nancy Jack in the popular Dorothy E. King Equine Science program.

The Wildlife Habitat minor was proposed by David Longer and David Miller, CSES.
The minor would require an internship. A new special problems in zoology course, focusing on wildlife management, would be offered.

Dr. Longer said the new minor would allow the U of A and Bumpers College to meet the demand of many prospective and current students for a wildlife habitat management program.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the U.S. Geological Survey encouraged Dr. Longer and Dr. Miller to pursue the new minor and offered to provide internships.
