Coming Events ------------- Job interviews sign-up April 13: Cooperative Extension Service district directors will conduct job interviews with graduating seniors and M.S. degree candidates on April 20. Students must sign up for an interview time and provide an updated resume no later than April 13 in Room 205 of the Agriculture Building. Thirty-minute interviews in AGRI 207 will be conducted by Michael Hamilton, Kent Rorie and Quinton Hornsby, the three District Extension Directors for Agriculture, and by Sharon Reynolds, Judy Riley, and Alberta James, the three Associate District Extension Directors for Family & Consumer Sciences. GSD Initiation and Awards Banquet April 13: The 52nd Annual Initiation and Awards Banquet for the University of Arkansas chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta will be Thursday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center. Ewell Welch, executive vice president of Arkansas Farm Bureau, will be the invited speaker. Tickets ($15) are available from your departmental Gamma Sigma Delta representative. State FFA Career Development Events April 14: The headquarters for the day's activities is the Poultry Science Building. There will be coffee and donuts for agricultural science teachers beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Rooms 413-414 (Conference Room). Stop by if your schedule permits. There will be a meeting of the teachers from 9:30-10:15 a.m. in AFLS B-108. "Lunch for a Buck" 11:00 to 1:00 p.m., April 14 at Agri Park as an FFA Career Development activity. This is a good opportunity to visit with some teachers and high school students. Awards for each of the 12 events will be presented on Friday afternoon as the results of each event are posted. The faculty coordinators of the different events work hard in preparing the day's activities, and we appreciate their efforts (and your support). -------------- Jack Justus Teaching Award Seminar Series April 19: Seminars on “Athletics and Teaching: Coaching students to success,” by Dr. Dick Oliver, Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences, and “Effective Teaching: What our students say about us,” by Dr. George Wardlow, Agricultural and Extension Education, beginning at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 19 in the Poultry Science Auditorium. --------------Modeling Short Course May 22-26: Faculty and students are invited to participate in a workshop on “Modeling for Analysis and design of Sustainable Agricultural Systems,” May 22 - May 26, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day in the H. L. Hembree AFLS Auditorium. The workshop is sponsored by the Animal Science Graduate Student Association (ASGSA), RSO and the Animal Science Department. It is designed for graduate students, advanced undergraduates, extension agents and faculty with an interest in the theory and practice of modeling biological and agricultural systems. Invited lecturers are Prof. Dir. Ir. Herman van Keulen and Dr. Ir. Hans Schiere of Plant Research International B.V. Wageningen University and Research Centre. (WUR). Wageningen, Netherlands.
