Horse Festival benefits Equine Program

The Dorothy E. King Equine Program hosted the 7th annual University of Arkansas Horse Festival March 31 and April 1 at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center.
The event showcased the vast variety of breeds, types and uses of horses, said Equine Program Director Nancy Jack. Nationally known equine clinicians, vendors, riding exhibitions, food and a silent auction were featured at the festival.
Proceeds support the D. E. King Equine Program in the Department of Animal Science
Some of the festival highlights included mounted shooting by the Boston Mountain Gunslingers, a Medieval Tournament by Cedar Springs Equestrian Center, Jose Aviles & The Dancing Spanish Horse, Dream Weaver Farm Miniatures Exhibition, Old Fort Dandies, Sugar Creek Riders Drill Team, Rodeo of the Ozarks' Rounders, NWAFTHBA Club Fox Trotters, Rocky Creek Horses for Healing, Personal Ponies, Diamond Kids Varsity Quadrille, Free Style Dressage, Gaited Mammoth Jack, H & K Farms Working Border Collies and Horsepower Ranch Andalusian.
A “Parade of Breeds” included Foxtrotters, Curly Horses – the hypoallergenic breed, Andalusian, Appaloosa, Arabian Horses, Belgians, Clydesdales, Connemara Pony, Rocky Mountain Horse, Friesan, Gypsy Vanners, Mustang, Miniature Horse, Paint Horse, Peruvian Paso, Paso Fino, Quarter Horse, Racking Horse, Tennessee Walking Horse, Mustangs, Mammoth Jack & more!
Just for Kids activities were Story Telling and Campfire Songs by professional Story Teller Marshall Mitchell in the Kids Corral, pony rides, a giant slide and other inflatables.
