Dr. C.E. Caviness — 1923-2006: Charles Ellis “Chuck” Caviness, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences, died March 1 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. Marie Lavallard — 1912-2006: Marie Louise Froehlich Lavallard of Fayetteville, retired head of the former Department of Agricultural Publications, died April 3, 2006 at her home in Butterfield Trail Village. GSD Initiation and Awards Banquet April 13: The 52nd Annual Initiation and Awards Banquet for the University of Arkansas chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta will be Thursday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center. GSD Student Research Competition winners: The UA chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta, The Honor Society of Agriculture, announces winners of 2006 Student Research Presentation Competition. Association supports Poultry Science recruiting: The Department of Poultry Science receives $16,551 from the Southeastern Poultry and Egg Association’s Harold E. Ford Foundation. Fultons Endow Animal Science Award: Ann Fulton of Springdale and the late Dr. Richard “Dick” Fulton, D.V.M., provide $11,968 to establish the Dr. Richard and Ann Fulton Endowed Award to recognize outstanding academic performance in Animal Science.
