Classrooms equipped with latest teaching technology
 |
|
| The Agnes Blew Auditorium in the School of Human Environmental Sciences was one of the assembly points for students and parents participating in Summer Orientation sessions. The number of students participating in orientation, which continues through August, appears to be higher than usual for the campus and the College, which might signal another increase in fall enrollment. |

Technology classrooms, teaching labs and auditoriums are now available for most Bumpers College classes with a dedicated computer and projector and other modern teaching tools.
The AES/CAFLS Technology Support unit directed by Brenda Wideman provides instructor training and support for the use of these tools.
Of the seventeen rooms with a dedicated computer and projector, most also have document cameras that allow images to be projected from documents.
The HITT system, which allows immediate electronic response by students to an instructor’s questions, is available in 10 classrooms and 2 computer labs. This tool increases interactivity by providing immediate feedback from the entire class, which can help the instructor know if a topic is being adequately covered.
All teaching auditoriums have Sympodium touchscreen panels and 6 classrooms have SmartBoards. These systems allow the instructor to display and add comments to information that is accessed from computer files or the Internet by writing on the board.
All instructors who have never taught in the technology classrooms must be trained in the use of the equipment prior to the beginning of Fall 2006 classes. Any instructors who have not taught recently should have refresher training, as resources change each year. Training arrangements can be made by contacting the AES/CAFLS Technology Help Desk by phone at 5-3420 or by email at aflshelp@uark.edu.
