Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture A newsletter for faculty, staff and students July-August 2005 Vol. 31, No. 4 Thai Ambassador Visits Thailand’s ambassador to the United States started a three-day tour of Arkansas on July 20 with a luncheon program hosted by Bumpers College in the AFLS Honors Hall.
Ambassador Kasit Piromya’s party included James Lee Witt, former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and now a consultant to the King of Thailand on tsunami recovery projects. Ambassador Kasit heard reports from Tyson Foods International Vice President Marvin Wilson, UA Provost Bob Smith, Bumpers College Dean Greg Weidemann and deans from the School of Architecture and the colleges of engineering and arts and sciences. The ambassador discussed areas where he would welcome cooperative ventures involving the U of A and private companies based in Arkansas. Other stops on Ambassador Kasit’s visit were to include Wal-Mart, the Bentonville Chamber of Commerce, the Clinton Library in Little Rock, and Riceland Foods in Stuttgart.
