Paul Beck appointed
assistant professor
Paul Beck was appointed assistant
professor of animal science, effective July 1. He is based at Southwest
Research and Extension Center (SWREC) and has a 60% research and 40% extension
appointment.
Dr. Beck has been a research
associate at SWREC for the past seven years working with Dr. Stacey Gunter
on beef cattle and forage management. His doctoral thesis was on “Effects
of Nutrition and Management on Performance of Beef Calves.”
A native of Guthrie, Okla.,
Dr. Beck has B.S. and M.S. degrees from Oklahoma State University and
a Ph.D. (2003) from the University of Arkansas. He farmed and raised beef
cattle in Oklahoma before beginning work on his doctorate.
Dr. Beck and his wife, Melissa,
have three children, ages 12, 11 and 6.
