newsletter for faculty, staff and students July-August 2004 Vol. 30, No. 4 Bob and Hazel Spitze receive philanthropy award Drs. Robert G.F. (Bob) and Hazel Taylor Spitze, who endowed the annual Spitze Land-Grant University Faculty Award for Excellence, were awarded the Ruby C. McSwain National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association (NAADA) Outstanding Philanthropist Award at the NAADA annual conference in June in Mobile, Ala. The Outstanding Philanthropist Award recognizes an individuals with a record of sustained giving to support agriculture, agricultural higher education, cooperative extension and/or land grant universities. Additional criteria include serving as an advocate for agriculture and philanthropy in community organizations, religious institutions, art, environment and social services. Bob and Hazel Spitze have endowed five student scholarships and the Public Policy Legislative Internship Award in Bumpers College in addition to the Land-Grant University Faculty Award for Excellence.
