Lona Robertson |
|
Lona Robertson has joined the Bumpers College faculty as an associate professor and area coordinator for the Apparel Studies major in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
Mary Warnock, HESC director, said, “Dr. Robertson is a highly regarded educator in the field of fashion merchandising. We are delighted that she has joined us to help meet the growing student demand for our Apparel Studies major.”
Robertson came from Oklahoma State University where she was an associate professor and assistant dean in the College of Human Environmental Sciences. In 2005, she was awarded the President's Certificate of Excellence for her work with the Graduate and Professional Student Government Association at OSU.
Apparel Studies is one of the fastest growing majors at the U of A. Enrollment has more than tripled in six years from 63 students in the fall of 1999 to 211 in the fall semester of 2005. The major added 33 students from fall 2004 to fall 2005. It is the most popular of 15 majors offered by Bumpers College.
Robertson grew up in Florida. She has a B.S. degree in fashion merchandising and a master’s degree in clothing and textiles, both from Florida State University. She was an assistant professor of textiles, apparel and merchandising at Indiana State University while working on a doctorate in education from Indiana University.
She received her Ed.D. degree in 1995 and joined the Oklahoma State University faculty that year. |
