1. Dogs with the Dean, Friday

Dean Greg Weidemann and associate deans Patty Siebenmorgen, Donna Graham and Rick Roeder will be grilling meat for the "Dogs with the Dean" event Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Bumpers College Student Ambassadors will be servers. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a free lunch.

2. Scholarship Luncheon, Oct. 12

All student scholarship recipients and donors are invited to a Scholarship Luncheon next Friday, Oct. 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Altell Ballroom in the Arkansas Union.  Scholarship recipients may be excused from classes to attend. Students should RSVP by Friday, Oct. 5., to Laura Gamble, 575-2253, lgamble@uark.edu.

3. Alumni Society Tailgate Party, Oct. 1

Alumni, faculty, staff and students are invited to the Bumpers College Alumni Society Tailgate Party and Cookout, which will begin at 4:35 p.m. (two hours before kickoff of the UA-Auburn game) Saturday, Oct. 13, in the AFLS Building atrium and outdoors on the south patio and lawn overlooking Razorback Stadium.

4. Parent-Child Relations in Other Cultures, Oct. 8

A presentation and discussion on cross cultural perspectives on parent-child relations is scheduled for Oct. 8 from 10:30-11:20 a.m. in HOEC 102. The presenters and discussion leaders will be Dr. Godwin-Charles Ogbeide, a new assistant professor of hospitality and restaurant management, from Nigeria, and Dr. Xuewen Sheng, post doctoral research associate, human development and family studies, from Beijing, China.

5. FHNH Students Serve Dinner at Ella's, Every Monday and Wednesday

Students in the food preparation class in the food, human nutrition and hospitality major will prepare a menu for dinner at Ella's Restaurant in The Inn at Carnall Hall every Monday and Wednesday. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. The cost is $15 plus tax. For reservations, call or email Nola Magee, 575-3245, nmagee@uark.edu. Dinner for Wednesday, Oct. 3, will feature students Leigh Ann Owensby and Phillip Pruett, with a "Year of the Pig" menu of egg drop soup, pork and broccoli stir fry over rice and vanilla ice cream with fresh mango sauce. Instructor Allen Powell, Chef Josh Byers, Pastry Chef Emily Bury and Ella's management assist the students.

6. Conversation on Climate Action, Thursday

The City of Fayetteville, in partnership with the University of Arkansas' Applied Sustainability Center, will host a community-wide event on the climate from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Willard J. Walker Hall. This event is part of a National Conversation on Climate Action to discuss the science of climate change, ongoing initiatives and individual actions that can be taken at the local level. This is one of more than 50 events nation-wide following the United Nations Climate Summit. Kevin Robbins, director of Louisiana State University's Southern Regional Climate Center, will headline the event. Robbins will discuss the science of climate change and impacts on Northwest Arkansas.
