AFLS Curriculum Committee Meeting

Approval of Agenda: Gbur moved. Edgar seconded. The motion passed.
Approval of previous minutes: Kreider moved. Edgar seconded. The motion passed.
Dean's Office Reports: Official list of enrolled undergraduates will be sent out Monday. Remind graduate students they need to register for courses like everyone else. Still too many drop/add forms coming into Dean's office.
ANSC/POSC 1123: Animals in Our lives (second reading).
Plant focused material has been stripped from the course. Anthony moved. Dowling seconded. The motion
FDSC 6403: Epidemiologic Principles in Food Safety and Public Health.
Instructor contacted other departments at the request of the committee. Did not get a reply from most that
were contacted. Kreider moved. Dowling seconded. The motion passed
Program change: MS Food Safety. A change of ALFS emphasis program. Name changed from MS AFLS to MS Food Safety. Kreider moved for approval on first and second reading. Edgar seconded. Motion passed.
Communication-intensive substitution. For a student in the Food Science culinary program. Student has an MS in English. Edgar moved. Kreider seconded. Motion passed.
Faculty Council requested input on graduate-level coursework opportunities in technical and scientific writing.
CSES has a hard time finding faculty to teach this course since the previous instructor's retirement. Clearly
needed though since the general consensus us that grad student writing is poor. Only alternative at this time
is the AGED 5483 technical writing class
AEED MS adds requirement of AGED 5563 for thesis-option MS students. Edgar moved for approval on first and second reading. Kreider seconded. Motion passed.
