1. Call to order:
Chairman Miller (for Hettiarachchy) called the meeting to order at 1:35 pm. The agenda for the meeting was approved. The minutes for the December meeting were approved with a change in the list of members absent from the meeting along with a date change for the January meeting.
4. Old Business:
Wailes presented information on changes to three concentrations in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness. The concentrations changed were Agribusiness Management and Marketing, Agricultural Economics and Pre-Law. In all three concentrations the math requirements were changed and the departmental core requirements altered. The proposal to change the concentrations passed the second reading.
5. New Business:
Wailes presented information on changes to the Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics (International Agribusiness Concentration, non-thesis). The degree option is to be broadened to include University of Ghent and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville students. The proposal to change the program passed the first reading.
6. Report of minor changes in the curriculum:
A list of approved minor changes was distributed. Two courses under the purview of this committee had minor changes approved: AGEC 2003, Intro to Global AFLS has a new AFLS alpha code; FDSC3100L, Principles of Food Processing Laboratory will be offered even years. A complete list of minor curriculum changes is attached.
7. Report from the HES subcommittee:
No report-
8. Report from the Dean's Office:
a. Changes in programs or the addition of new programs need to follow new Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) guidelines. The format to follow can be found on the ADHE webpage.
b. Catalogue changes have been sent to departments for editing.
c. Graduate program concentrations should follow ADHE guidelines.
d. New check sheets are due April 1st in the Dean's Office.
e. Each syllabus should include a statement on inclement weather policy.
f. Each degree check sheet should have the date it was created at the bottom of the sheet.
9. Announcements:
The next meeting of the committee is February 4th, 2005, 1:30 pm in the APC Conference room.
