1. Call to order:
Chair Hettiarachchy called the meeting to order at 1:34 pm. The agenda for the meeting was approved. The minutes for the January meeting were approved.
4. Old Business:
Wailes presented information on changes to the Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics (International Agribusiness Concentration, non-thesis). The degree option is to be broadened to include University of Ghent and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville students. The proposal to change the program passed the second reading.
5. New Business:
Hettiarachchy presented information on two changes to classes in Food Science. The first change was to delete FDSC6101, Colloquium in Food Science. The second change was to make FDSC400V, Special Problems, available for undergraduate credit only. After some discussion, the committee consensus was that both of these proposals were minor changes and did not need formal committee approval.
6. Report of minor changes in the curriculum:
A list of approved minor changes was distributed. A complete list of minor and recent major curriculum changes is attached (PDF).
7. Report from the HES subcommittee:
8. Report from the Dean's Office:
a. Departments should consider the maximum number of hours a student can enroll for thesis and dissertation both in one semester and over the student's entire graduate career. This would be considered a minor curriculum change for departments.
b. Preparation for accreditation review is underway and departments should expect to prepare learning outcomes for degree programs.
c. Last chance for editing the electronic copy of the catalogue.
The schedule of meetings for the committee for the remainder of 2005 is: March 4th, April 1st, May 6th (as required), September 2nd, October 7th, November 4th, and December 2nd. All meetings take place at 1:30 pm in the APC Conference room.
