Master of Science in Agricultural, Food & Life Sciences (AFLS)

The Master of Science in Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences is a Bumpers College-administered graduate degree for practitioners of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Graduates are prepared to address complex environmental, social, community and biologically-based problems in agricultural industries, education and state and federal agencies. The program is administered by a Steering Committee of faculty representing all academic departments in the Bumpers College. A program coordinator works with the Associate Dean to organize student services and program requirements. Since many of the MS-AFLS students are located off-campus, the program attempts to optimize graduate offering through distance education and three-week sessions during spring and summer semesters. The School of Continuing Education and Academic Outreach for the University of Arkansas and Bumpers College have cooperated to provide a range of distance education opportunities for this degree program. The MS-AFLS currently includes traditional study areas in the agricultural sciences and an evolving web-based course of study in food safety.
