The commencement ceremony for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Barnhill Arena, located between Stadium Drive and Razorback Road. The program will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Graduates should plan to arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. to allow sufficient time to line up and get organized.
Regalia may be picked up at the UA Bookstore on Wednesday, May 7th and Thursday, May 8th between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm; Friday, May 9th between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm and on Saturday, May 10th between 7:30 am and 12:00 pm (noon). Only University recognized regalia and approved honors cords or stoles are allowed to be worn. No personal items or adornments are to be added to the regalia.
There is no limit to the amount of guests you bring with you. We encourage students to bring as many friends and family members as you wish to invite.
The program will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m., so graduates must arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. to allow sufficient time to line up and get organized. Graduates should enter Barnhill Arena at the southwest entrance. Family and guests will enter through the top south entrance. Please note that the doors of Barnhill Arena will be opened at 5:30 p.m., but not before the College of Engineering concludes their commencement ceremony. Also, reserved parking lots and the drop-off area will not be accessible prior to 5:15 p.m. Graduates must leave all personal belongings (handbags, cell phones, jackets, etc.) with a family member or in a locked vehicle. There is no secure storage available. All individuals carrying bags (camera cases, purses, etc.) may be searched at the door. We recommend that you do not bring backpacks, large bags, or additional items that may delay entry into Barnhill Arena. Again, graduates must leave personal belongings with family and friends since you will not be allowed to carry items during the ceremony.
Upon arriving at the southwest entrance to Barnhill, please line up based on the number on your name card. Staff will be available to assist you. DO NOT LOSE YOUR CARD – you will keep your card with you until you go on stage and hand it to the announcer. Please complete the Career Placement information on the back of the card while you wait in line.
Name Card and Pronunciation of Your Name
Between April 29th and May 10th, please come to the Bumpers College Dean’s Office (AFLS E108) and pick up your name card to be read at commencement. There will be a place on your card to provide information on pronunciation and we will ask you to confirm the pronunciation of your name so we can provide it to the announcer. Bring your name card with you to commencement and keep it with you as you are in the lineup and as you walk to the stage. You will give your name card to the announcer as you walk up to cross the stage.
The Dale Bumpers College Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences is pleased to invite family members who are University of Arkansas faculty members to participate in our Commencement exercises. If you have a family member who is a U of A faculty member and you would like them to award your diploma, please contact Carmen Alessi in the Dean’s Office (AFLS E108) or 575-2252 as soon as possible.
When you pick up your name card from the Dean’s Office, we will confirm the pronunciation of your name so we can provide it to the announcer. There will also be a place on your card to provide information on pronunciation.
A professional photographer will be taking pictures during the awarding of diplomas and he will contact you later to arrange for prints. We invite family and friends to feel free to use cameras from their seats.
Public parking is available in lots 44, 72, 73, 73A and the Stadium Drive Parking Garage. These parking lots are all located on Razorback Road with the exception of the Stadium Drive Parking Garage, which is located on Stadium Drive just east of Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Graduates, families and guests are encouraged to park in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage or the parking lot north of Razorback Stadium (Lot 44). The following describes access routes to these general parking areas.
From the South: Take I-40 to I-540 North (exit 12), from I-540 North to West 6th Street/MLK Blvd. (Exit 62). Turn right (heading east) onto West 6th Street/MLK Blvd.; turn left onto Razorback Road; continue heading north on Razorback Road. Barnhill Arena is located on the access road off Meadow Street, just north of John McDonnell Field.
From the North: After Bella Vista, take I-540 South all the way to Fayetteville, from I-540 South to West 6th Street/MLK Blvd. (Exit 62). Turn left (heading east) onto West 6th Street/MLK Blvd.; turn left onto Razorback Road; continue heading north on Razorback Road. Barnhill Arena is located on the access road off Meadow Street, just north of John McDonnell Field.
From the East: Take Hwy 412 to I-540. See directions from north.
From the West: Take Hwy 412 east to I-540. See directions from north.
Graduates or guests with mobility impairment may be DROPPED OFF at the Southwest entrance of Barnhill Arena by using the service road off Meadow Street. Upon drop off, cars may park in the Stadium Avenue Garage (Union Parking Deck), the Stadium Lot (Lot 44), or Lots 72 and 73 (West of Barnhill Arena).

As Barnhill Arena does not have an elevator, limited special seating will be available at court level for those with mobility impairment. We respectfully ask that only one additional person accompany each person with mobility impairment to court level seats.
Also, please let Mari know if there are other specific accommodations needed by anyone in your party so that he or she may fully enjoy the commencement ceremony. Please contact Mari regarding these requests prior to May 2, 2014.
