The Biological Engineering major (jointly administered with the College of Engineering) emphasizes the application of engineering principles to biological systems, including biomedical, biotechnology, and ecological engineering as well as agricultural production and processing.

Students majoring in the agricultural, food and life sciences received over $400,000 in scholarships for 1998-99.
To apply:
1. Be admitted to the University.
2. Complete a college scholarship form by Feb. 15 for incoming freshmen, current students and transfer students.

Student Clubs — The University of Arkansas has an active pre-professional branch of ASABE, The Society for Engineering in Agricultural, Food, and Biological Systems and a branch of IBE, the Institute of Biological Engineering. Activities in ASABE and IBE, both locally and nationally, provide students with formal experiences in national design competitions and informal experiences networking with faculty and practicing professionals in the field.

Biomedical/Pre-Medical Option — Pursue a pre-medical curriculum while gaining the valuable asset of an biomedical engineering degree.
