Crop Management
In the Crop Management major, you will learn about the science, technology and hands-on skills involved in producing food and fiber for a changing world. You can tailor the course of study for interests that range from farm management or agricultural consulting to working in industries that provide farm equipment, seed, fertilizer, chemicals, technology and services. Many graduates go into public service with the Cooperative Extension Service and other education and service agencies.

Environmental, Soil and Water Science
The ESWS major prepares you for careers working with the environment. The emphasis is on the science, technology and hands-on applications involved in sustainable use of our soil and water resources. Graduates are in demand for a variety of jobs that require an understanding of environmental science, environmental protection and remediation, and environmentally responsible use of natural resources. A minor in Wildlife and Habitat Management complements the ESWS major.

Horticulture, Landscape and Turf Sciences
The HLTS major will prepare you for a career in the “Green Industry” working with small acreage, high-value plants such as turfgrass, landscaping plants, ornamental plants, fruits and vegetables. Golf course/sports turf management, landscape design and nursery management are popular career options.
Your Horticulture Department advisor will structure your major for your areas of interest with a general or specific focus.

Agricultural Education, Communication and Technology Major
Concentrations in AECT provides a background in agriculture and experiential (hands-on) learning in one of the three career paths.
- Agricultural Education careers include being a high school agriculture or agriscience teacher or directing education programs in an agribusiness company or a public service agency such as the Cooperative Extension Service.
- Agricultural Systems Technology Management will prepare you for careers related to technical operations and management in the broad agricultural industry. The focus is on hands-on problem solving in the development and use of existing and new technology.
- Agricultural Communications will prepare you to use communication skills and technology for agriculture-related careers in the fields of journalism, corporate communications, public service or education.

Biological Engineering
The BAEG major emphasizes the application of engineering principles to biological systems. Concentrations that lead to careers working with plants include biotechnology, ecological engineering and agricultural production and processing.
The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering is jointly administered by Bumpers College and the College of Engineering. Students are enrolled in this major through the College of Engineering.
