Information for Prospective Students
Dear Alumni,
Many of our best students are your kids and grandkids and others whom you have influenced to attend Bumpers College and its School of Human Environmental Sciences. You play a vital role in our recruiting efforts, and we sincerely appreciate it. You have your own reasons for recommending Bumpers College. Here are some of the basics that we like to emphasize.
Career-Focused Majors. Prospective students consider many factors in choosing a university and a home college, but, sooner or later, it’s all about choosing a major that matches the student's interests and goals for a career that they will enjoy as their life's work. We have 14 majors for students with an interest in Plants, Animals, Business, Food, the Human Environment or the Natural Environment.
Atmosphere and Location. Fayetteville, the Ozarks and the U of A campus make a wonderful setting for a university community. We are dedicated to providing a family-like atmosphere for a close-knit student body. Students tell us they consider Bumpers College their home-away-from-home. Our faculty take a personal interest in helping each student find their niche, succeed as a student and enjoy their time with us. We provide a friendly, small-college atmosphere with all the advantages of a major state university.
Academic Quality. Bumpers College faculty members are leaders in their fields and are dedicated teachers and advisers. Faculty members, not teaching assistants, teach the courses. Graduates are well prepared to begin a career in their chosen field or enter graduate school or a professional school in veterinary medicine, law, business and other fields.
Personal Attention. Our faculty members are the students’ academic advisers. Faculty members also serve as student club advisers, and they mentor students in optional research projects. Many faculty members spend extra time with students who are open to learning experiences beyond the normal course work.
