Research at Bumpers College

Research & Extension

Research by Bumpers College faculty is conducted through the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AAES).

Many faculty members also conduct extension programs through the Cooperative Extension Service (CES).

The AAES and CES are the two components of the U of A System’s statewide Division of Agriculture.

Departmental Research and Extension Pages

Students benefit from the close association of Bumpers College with the U of A System’s Division of Agriculture

Faculty. Faculty members employed for Division research and extension also teach courses. This helps provide a favorable ratio of students to instructors, and it provides teachers who are nationally recognized experts in their fields.

Facilities. The Division provides, maintains and staffs institutes, centers, laboratories and other facilities used both for research and teaching on campus and at the Arkansas Agricultural Research and Extension Center on North Garland Avenue.

Student Jobs and Graduate Assistantships. Most Bumpers College graduate students are employed by the Division of Agriculture as graduate assistants. The Division also employs undergraduate students to assist with research and extension programs.

Statewide Opportunities. Students may conduct projects at Division locations throughout the state. These include regionalResearch and Extension Centers and Branch Stations plus an extension office in every county.

The Land Grant System. The U of A is part of the national land-grant university system. Our statewide agricultural, food and life sciences teaching, research and extension programs are networked with those at other land-grant universities, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other agencies.
