Soils Team advances to national contest

The University of Arkansas Soil Judging Team, coached by Kristofor R. Brye, CSES, competed in the Region IV Soil Judging Contest that was hosted by Texas Tech University Oct. 22-23 in Lubbock. The team earned an opportunity to compete in the National Soil Judging Contest to be hosted by Texas Tech in Spring 2010. This will be the second trip to the National contest that the University of Arkansas Soil Judging Team has earned in the last nine years.
The team placed second in the two-pit, team-judged potion of the contest. In the four-pit, individual-judged portion of the contest, Shu Kuroishi finished as the sixth-high individual and Chessica Rizley finished as the third-high individual. Based on these results, the University of Arkansas finished in third place overall, behind Oklahoma State (second place) and Texas A&M University (first place).
