2. Approval of Agenda – the agenda was approved as written.

4. Old Business
Animal Science. Add 1-hour Special Topic class (ASNC 510v, Models in Agriculture). The course will be offered as a one-time, one-week course (summer session I of 2006), and will feature lectures by visiting researchers from the Netherlands. The committee inquired about the type of evaluation used, and about the identity of the instructor of record. Brown indicated that Stacey Gunter (ANSC) will be the IOR. General questions were asked about the procedures needed to have a special topics course approved. The proposal passed the first and second readings.
5. New Business
A) AFLS. Add AFLS 4431H (Exploring Ethics). Miller provided information about the course, which heretofore has been taught as a special topics course within the AFLS Honors program. Anthony (POSC) is the instructor of record. It was suggested that Wolf (CSES, Director of the Honors Program) be asked about whether the phrase “for the second 5 weeks of the semester” should be deleted from the catalog description, to provide more flexibility about when the course is offered. The proposal passed the first reading.
B) AFLS. Add AFLS 3131H (Management and Leadership). Miller provided information about the course, which heretofore has been taught as a special topics course within the AFLS Honors program. Arthur (AEED) is the instructor of record. Upon examination of the course content, it was not apparent whether the course actually addresses the area of management, so the committee recommended that Arthur be asked to address this issue, with a potential title being “Leadership and Organizations.” It was also asked the Arthur verify when the course meets, and that that Wolf be asked about whether the phrase “for the first 5 weeks of the semester” should be deleted from the catalog description, to provide more flexibility about when the course is offered. The proposal passed the first reading.
6. Report of minor changes in the curriculum. A listing of minor changes was provided by the Dean’s Office, and AEAB distributed information about a minor change (change offering from fall to spring semester) to AGEC 5413.
7. Report from HES subcommittee – none
8. Report from the Dean’s Office. The issue of intensive communication electives was raised again. The Dean’s Office request that each department propose a definition of a “communication intensive course,” so that the curriculum committee can attempt to compile a single definition for use within the college. It was also requested the each departmental representative share with their colleagues the importance of submitting requests for course substitutions in a timely manner.
9. Announcements – none
10. Adjourn – Freddie Scott
